NEWS - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FIRE COUNCIL ORGANIZATION MEETING SET
Laguna Beach: Eight years ago this month, Laguna Beach caught on fire. In
the decade following the devastation, new construction, plantings and time
have erased the fire's visible scars. Unfortunately, the possibility of
another devastating fire still exists. To help in the protection of the
local region from future disaster, the Greater Laguna Coast Fire Safe
Council is being organized. The new council, which has received a grant
from the Federal Bureau of Land Management, seeks founding members to
develop fire-protection task objectives. Interested citizens from Laguna
Beach and nearby communities are invited to attend a meeting at the Laguna
Beach City Hall on October 27 at 10:00 am. These “Founding Members” will
develop activities to keep residents informed about fire dangers, and
promote fire mitigation measures. The new Laguna Coast Council is one of
over one hundred such community-centered Fire Safe Councils across
California.
